The building, completed in 1930 by architectural firm Schwartz & Gross, replaced Besley's Tavern where George Washington stayed during the Revolutionary War period.
From 1934 to 1949, the Terrytoons animation studio operated in this building, creating characters and producing cartoons for national distribution networks.
The ground floor contains retail spaces with an arcade on the second and third levels, while upper floors provide office spaces in downtown New Rochelle.
WVOX-AM 1460 radio station maintained its broadcasting studios and administrative offices within this building for several decades.
