Heritage Tower, Art Deco skyscraper in Battle Creek, United States
The Heritage Tower rises 238 feet with gray Indiana limestone facades and stands as the tallest structure in downtown Battle Creek.
Built in 1931 as Old-Merchants National Bank headquarters, the building represented the largest financial institution between Detroit and Chicago during that period.
The building reflects the economic prominence of Battle Creek in the 1930s through its Art Deco design and grand architectural elements.
The twenty-story structure now contains 85 residential apartments and 32,000 square feet of commercial space after a 34 million dollar renovation.
The building featured Michigan's first wooden escalator and incorporated Golden Travertine in its mezzanine, setting new standards for bank architecture.
