Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area, Wildlife management area in Nokesville, United States
Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area is a nature reserve near Nokesville covering about 300 acres of floodplain habitat. The site includes hardwood forests, open fields, and wetland areas that support various wildlife species around Cedar Run.
The site was established in 2008 as Virginia's 37th wildlife management area through funding from the Department of the Navy and the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation. This partnership made possible the protection of the land for conservation purposes.
The Virginia Bluebell Festival draws visitors each April to witness native wildflowers blooming in masses along Cedar Run's banks, making the site a gathering place for people interested in spring woodland plants.
The area stays open year-round and has two parking areas with information boards to help visitors navigate. Trails, fishing spots along Cedar Run, and designated hunting zones are available on-site.
A seven-acre island in Cedar Run holds one of Northern Virginia's largest concentrations of Virginia Bluebells. This rare cluster of native wildflowers is most visible when they flower in spring.
