Wood Lawn, Historic house in New Brunswick, US.

Wood Lawn features a Neoclassical design with clapboard siding, a mansard roof containing dormers, and two main floors above a basement level.

Colonel James Neilson constructed Wood Lawn in 1830, and the architectural firm McKim, Mead & White transformed its Victorian style into Classical Revival in 1905.

The mansion represents the architectural evolution from early American residential design through Victorian to Classical Revival modifications over several generations.

Wood Lawn currently functions as the headquarters of the Eagleton Institute of Politics, primarily housing administrative offices on the Rutgers University campus.

The mansion incorporates architectural elements from three distinct periods: Neoclassical, Second Empire, and Colonial Revival, reflecting changes across different eras.
