Trolley District, Restored tram depot in Franklin Park neighborhood, Columbus, United States.
Trolley District is a restored former streetcar depot with multiple historic buildings spread across three acres in Franklin Park. The site contains restaurants, bars, a brewery, and the East Market food hall, all housed within the original industrial structures.
The site developed between 1882 and 1920 as a maintenance facility for horsecars, streetcars, and buses. After closing in the 1980s, it reopened in 2022 as a cultural and marketplace destination.
The name reflects the streetcar lines that once defined this neighborhood and shaped how people moved through the area. Visitors today experience this heritage as restaurants and shops occupy the same industrial buildings where transit workers once maintained vehicles.
The complex is walkable with multiple pathways connecting different sections, making it easy to explore all areas. Visit the East Market from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 7:30 AM for breakfast, while most restaurants and shops open at 11 AM.
The west barn's former streetcar paint shop area sat unused for years before being converted into multiple food stalls and retail spaces. This transformation shows how industrial spaces adapted to serve completely different purposes.
