Weigley Mansion, Second Empire mansion in Schaefferstown, Pennsylvania.

The Weigley Mansion is a Second Empire-style building constructed from sandstone in Schaefferstown with an expansive interior layout. Its design features multiple rooms, bedrooms, formal spaces, and numerous windows and doorways throughout the structure.

The residence was built between 1876 and 1882 for businessman William M. Weigley and remained with his family until the 1940s. Ownership changed hands multiple times after that period before the property eventually opened to the public.

The mansion displays ornate chandeliers and period furnishings that reflect the taste of its inhabitants. The rooms give visitors a sense of how wealthy families lived and furnished their homes during that era.

The mansion offers guided tours and hosts events for visitors and is located on Heidelberg Avenue. The building is currently undergoing restoration work, so it is helpful to check ahead about accessibility and visiting hours.

The residence was designed by Philadelphia architect Isaac H. Hobbs and received recognition in major publications of the era. His design was featured in Godey's Lady's Magazine and Scientific American, showing how notable his architectural approach was at the time.
