Islamic Center of Greater Toledo

The Islamic Center of Greater Toledo is a mosque in Perrysburg featuring a gold-plated aluminum dome 65 feet (20 meters) in diameter and twin minarets reaching 135 feet (41 meters) high. The facility includes prayer spaces, funeral services, educational classes, and a food bank for community members.

The center opened in 1983 with assistance from University of Toledo astronomers who helped determine the precise orientation toward Mecca during construction. Their involvement ensured the building met important religious requirements for prayer orientation.

The school operated by this center provides Islamic education and academic learning for Muslim children in the area. It reflects the community's commitment to passing knowledge and faith to the next generation.

The center operates year-round and hosts an annual International Festival open to the community. Keep in mind that certain areas are designated for prayer times and may have limited public access during those periods.

In 2001, the center appointed the first female president of an Islamic center in the United States, a historic moment for Muslim leadership. This appointment opened new pathways for women in leadership roles within Muslim organizations.
