Phu My Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Phu My Bridge stretches 2031 meters across the Saigon River and connects District 2 to District 7 south of the city center. The roadway offers six lanes for cars along with separate areas for motorbikes and pedestrians on both sides.
Construction began in September 2005 through an international collaboration that included Baulderstone and Bilfinger Berger, reaching completion in September 2009. The project marked the first privately funded transport route in modern Vietnamese history.
The name comes from the nearby port area and reflects how modern engineering connects neighborhoods in southern Ho Chi Minh City. During rush hours, commuters use the separate lanes for motorbikes, which matches the daily rhythm of the metropolis.
The crossing forms a central part of the ring system that directs traffic around Ho Chi Minh City. The pedestrian paths work well for walks in good weather, with lighter crowds in the morning or late afternoon.
Two piers stand in the water and support a central span of 380 meters above the river. The overall structure reaches a height of 145 meters, leaving enough room for ships passing underneath.
