Bismarck Tower, Monument tower in Altenkirchen, Germany
The stone Bismarck Tower stands 14 meters tall on a hill called Dorn, overlooking the town of Altenkirchen in the Westerwald region.
Ten local associations initiated the construction of the tower in 1910, with the foundation stone laid on April 1, 1914, and inauguration delayed until 1922.
The monument represents German cultural heritage, with four corner pillars featuring small fire bowls and a stone balustrade surrounding the observation terrace.
The tower underwent restoration in 2008 through the Bismarckturm-Verein Altenkirchen association and reopened to visitors in August 2010.
The construction cost 14,000 marks, including a donation of 300 marks from Prince Hatzfeld-Wildenburg to support the regional landmark project.
