Dominikanerkloster Worms, Dominican monastery in Worms, Germany
The St. Paulus Dominican monastery consists of religious buildings with a cloister and a three-nave pillar basilica featuring an octagonal dome in the west.
Founded in 1226, the monastery faced initial resistance from the Bishop of Worms but received support from local citizens and obtained city rights in 1385.
The monastery served as a training center for Dominican novices from 1993 to 2024, with members actively participating in various pastoral activities throughout the community.
Religious services continue at St. Paulus Church located at Paulusplatz 5 in Worms, despite the monastery's closure on April 1, 2024.
The church structure displays Byzantine and early Christian architectural elements, including stone dome helmets and decorative features influenced by the Crusades period.
