Sygun Copper Mine

Sygun Copper Mine is a working museum housed within mountain tunnels where visitors walk through passageways carved into the rock face during active mining operations. The site displays the tools miners used and shows how water seeping through copper-rich layers created natural crystal formations over time.

Copper extraction began in the 1700s and expanded significantly during the Victorian period as demand for the metal grew. The operation closed in 1903 when imported copper became cheaper and the local ore deposits became harder to access profitably.
