Chisenhale Dance Space

Chisenhale Dance Space occupies the top floor of a former veneer factory near Victoria Park, with two rehearsal studios and a smaller performance room seating around 75 people. The converted industrial building creates a working space for dance practices and presentations.

The center was founded in late 1984 by members of the X6 Dance Collective who wanted to establish a dedicated performance venue for the local dance scene. It emerged from efforts to create a permanent home for experimental dance practices and artistic development.

The space serves as a working platform where dancers and choreographers develop experimental work and share their practice with the local community.

The venue offers weekly dance classes for different skill levels, youth programs, and studio rentals for community use. Plan ahead to check when classes are scheduled and which activities are open to visitors.
