The Palm Tree, Grade II listed pub in Mile End, London.
The Palm Tree is a historic pub located beside a canal in Mile End Park, featuring traditional wooden beams and vintage furnishings throughout its interior. The space extends to a spacious outdoor garden where visitors can sit and enjoy their time outside.
This pub was built in 1935 for Truman's Brewery and designed by the architectural firm Eedle and Meyers. Around eighty years later it gained Grade II listed status, which helped preserve its form.
The interior features signed photographs of past celebrities and sports figures that line the walls, and live jazz performances fill the space on certain evenings. This combination of displayed memorabilia and music shapes how visitors experience the place today.
The pub sits on Grove Road and offers traditional beers and ales in an accessible setting along the canal. Those arriving from the canal paths or nearby neighborhoods can reach it easily on foot.
The pub retains its appearance from the 1930s and resists the modern alterations that are common elsewhere in the area. This commitment to original fixtures and design makes it a rare example of period architecture unchanged by later trends.
