St Paul's Methodist Church, Didsbury

St Paul's Methodist Church is a Gothic Revival structure built from sandstone with a cruciform floor plan in Didsbury. The building features a belfry and steeple positioned at the south-west corner.

The building was opened in 1877 as part of a theological college with a design by architect Henry Hill Vale. Vale died during construction and could not see the project completed.

The interior displays quality materials like Aberdeen granite arcades and Irish marble columns that reflect 19th-century craftsmanship standards. These elements show how much care was invested in creating a dignified worship space.

The building is located on Wilmslow Road in Manchester and was converted to office use in 1990. It is now a private building and can be viewed from the street without interior access.

The interior was adapted with mezzanine levels during its 1990 conversion to offices while keeping the original spatial character intact. This shows how religious buildings can be successfully reused for modern purposes.
