Cloister of the Scalzo, Religious museum in Florence, Italy
The cloister features stone Corinthian columns and walls decorated with monochromatic frescoes depicting scenes from Saint John the Baptist's life.
The cloister belonged to the Company of Saint John the Baptist, established in 1376, where members walked barefoot during religious processions.
Between 1509 and 1526, Andrea del Sarto and Franciabigio created sixteen monochromatic frescoes illustrating religious narratives and cardinal virtues.
Located at Via Cavour 69 in Florence, the museum remains accessible to visitors with mobility requirements through dedicated facilities.
The frescoes demonstrate Andrea del Sarto's artistic evolution, from early quattrocento influences to later dynamic compositions influenced by Michelangelo.
