Jewish Cemetery in Kamienna Góra, Jewish memorial grounds in Kamienna Góra, Poland.
The Jewish Cemetery in Kamienna Góra is a burial ground nestled between a Catholic cemetery and an old funeral building on Katowicka Street. A high eastern wall encloses the site, which holds several dozen preserved gravestones dating from the 19th and 20th centuries.
The site opened in 1824 when the local Jewish community was established and needed a dedicated burial ground. The community grew substantially over the following decades, reaching its largest size in the 1880s before demographic changes reshaped the region.
The gravestones feature Hebrew inscriptions alongside some German text, reflecting the multilingual character of the community that lived here. This mix of languages tells the story of people who belonged to both Jewish and local German-speaking worlds.
The site can be reached on foot via Katowicka Street and is open to respectful visitors year-round. Since this is a burial ground, visitors are expected to show proper reverence and wear appropriate clothing.
In 2003, young volunteers from a local museum assembled a mosaic using fragments of broken gravestones that were discovered during restoration work. This unusual artwork transforms damaged stones into a meaningful tribute that visitors often overlook when walking through the grounds.
