Kamienna Góra Castle, Medieval castle in Kamienna Góra, Poland.
Kamienna Góra Castle is a fortified residence in Kamienna Góra built with brick and stone materials. Its layout features three wings arranged around a courtyard and originally included defensive moats and cloisters.
The fortress was built before 1508 for Hans Schaffgotsch, incorporating elements from an earlier fortification on the site. It remained a residence for Silesian nobility across generations.
The castle served as a focal point for the region's noble families, hosting important gatherings and ceremonies over centuries. Locals viewed it as a symbol of power and permanence in the Silesian landscape.
The location lies north of the Market Square on Zamkowa Street and is easily reached on foot. Access to the ruins is generally open, though visitors should exercise caution as some structures may be unstable.
A devastating fire in 1964 destroyed much of the structure, leaving only fragments behind. Today visitors can still see sections of Renaissance stonework and medieval tower remains scattered throughout the ruins.
