Woods Mill

Woods Mill is a nature reserve in West Sussex featuring diverse habitats including wetlands, ancient woodlands, streams, meadows, and a central lake. These varied landscapes create homes for numerous plant and animal species throughout the seasons.

The land transformed from agricultural fields into a protected nature reserve and became the headquarters of Sussex Wildlife Trust. This change allowed the area to develop into a thriving habitat for wildlife over time.

The site serves as a place where visitors observe how local ecosystems function and where conservation efforts are put into practice. People come here to understand the relationship between different habitats and the animals they support.

The site is open year-round with free entry and offers parking, bike racks, and restrooms for visitors. Paths are easy to walk and give access to different parts of the landscape without steep climbs.

The lake and wetland areas attract numerous bird species including Mute Swans, Little Grebes, Kingfishers, and Grey Herons. Water-loving birds are particularly drawn to these habitats, making the reserve notable for birdwatchers.
