Doncaster Civic Office, Municipal government building in Waterdale, Doncaster, England
Doncaster Civic Office is a five-story municipal building with a rectangular tower block design located on Waterdale. The structure features a glass and steel facade divided into eight bays, creating a clean modern appearance.
The building opened in 2012 as part of the Waterdale area regeneration project, replacing the former Coal House offices that once stood on the site. This change marked the transition from the area's industrial past toward new administrative and urban facilities.
The upper corner of the building displays 3,200 glazed terracotta tiles that incorporate the borough coat of arms, representing local heritage.
The building serves as a working office for local government staff and is not typically open for public tours inside. Visitors can view the exterior facade and street-level surroundings to appreciate the modern design and its place within the Waterdale district.
The building features rooftop gardens designed to capture and store rainwater, which is then reused to reduce water demand. These environmental measures reflect efforts to make the structure more sustainable and minimize its operational impact.
