Sender Krvavec, Broadcasting tower in Mount Krvavec, Slovenia
Sender Krvavec is a broadcasting tower on Mount Krvavec in the Slovenian Alps. The structure rises approximately 100 meters and transmits radio and television signals from an elevation of about 1,740 meters across the entire country.
The facility began operations on February 14, 1957, initially retransmitting Italian RAI programs before domestic television services launched in 1958. It later played a key role in introducing color television broadcasts to the nation.
The facility marked significant progress in Slovenian broadcasting when it introduced the first color television transmissions to the country in 1966.
The site is best visited on clear days when the mountain road is passable and visibility is good. Access to the facility is restricted since it is an active broadcasting station with limited public entry.
The structure suffered severe damage during the 1991 war and required complete reconstruction afterward. This rebuilding made it a symbol of the country's infrastructure recovery following the conflict.
