Established in 2007 within a former power distribution building from the early 20th century, the museum evolved from an art house that operated since 1997.
The institution preserves Karagöz and Hacivat shadow puppetry, recognized by UNESCO in 2009 as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity representing Turkish storytelling traditions.
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM, the museum offers free shadow play performances, guided tours, and educational workshops for visitors.
Features 61 original Karagöz puppets from master puppeteer Hayali Küçük Ali's collection, alongside interactive puppet-making workshops for children and contemporary shadow play performances.
