Un dimanche à Nice is a metal sculpture by Stéphane Cipre, installed outdoors near the port area of Nice. It stands as a modern work shaped from durable metal, reflecting light and creating shadows as people walk around it.
The work was inaugurated in November 2019, placed in the city as part of a recent wave of public art around Port Lympia. Its creator, Stéphane Cipre, had already gained recognition after winning a prize at a modern art festival in 2007.
The sculpture's title evokes a slower, gentler Sunday in Nice, a theme that resonates with how locals use the nearby square for sitting, talking, and watching street performers. As a public artwork, it functions more as a meeting point or photo stop than as a museum piece.
You can easily walk to it from the port area or take a local tram for a short ride. Once there, allow enough time to walk all the way around, since the view changes noticeably from different sides.
