Calanque de l'Oule

The calanque presents two vertical cliffs extending from Eissadon to Castelvieil plateau, forming a narrow inlet into the Mediterranean Sea.

The name originates from Provençal word 'oulo', referring to the pot-like shape where waves create strong water movements during storms.

Local fishermen maintain traditional fishing practices in the protected waters of the cove, continuing centuries-old Mediterranean maritime traditions.

Access to the calanque requires either a boat journey from Marseille harbor or following the green-marked path number 8 through the Oule valley.

A semi-submerged marine cave within the calanque contains diverse aquatic species and geological formations visible through clear Mediterranean waters.
