Cachoeira do Abade

Cachoeira do Abade is a waterfall within a protected nature reserve near Pirenópolis, where water cascades over smooth rock surfaces into a large pool below. The Rio das Almas river feeds this waterfall, which is framed by dense vegetation and towering rock walls.

The area around this waterfall was long part of Pirenópolis's mining landscape before the region shifted focus toward conservation. The shift from mining to protected land happened gradually as gold extraction from the 1700s era came to an end.
