Uunartoq Hot Spring

Three natural springs merge into a stone-enclosed pool where bathers can observe floating icebergs and mountain peaks while maintaining a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius.

Norse settlers discovered these thermal waters approximately one thousand years ago, using them as a place for recuperation after their maritime expeditions.

The thermal springs remain the sole outdoor bathing location in Greenland, representing an important element of both Norse and Inuit heritage in the region.

Visitors need to arrange boat transportation from Qaqortoq harbor, with the journey taking one hour each way and requiring advance reservations through local tour operators.

The pool offers the rare experience of soaking in warm thermal waters while watching icebergs drift by in the surrounding Arctic waters.
