The Aquarium du Cap d'Agde was a facility with approximately 30 tanks displaying marine life from Mediterranean and tropical waters, including sharks, sea turtles, and bioluminescent fish. The collection featured species from different ocean regions and offered visitors an overview of underwater biodiversity.
The facility was established to introduce visitors to marine biology and operated for nearly three decades. It closed permanently in December 2020 due to economic difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The aquarium provided educational programs for children aged 5 to 12, focusing on marine biology and environmental conservation through hands-on beach activities.
The aquarium was located on the coast and easily accessible on foot from the beach, making for a relaxed visit. The space was laid out clearly, allowing visitors of all ages to view the tanks without difficulty.
During summer mornings, children participated in guided explorations of La Conque beach to identify marine fauna before carefully releasing them back to nature.
