Bunker 638, World War II bunker museum in La Tamarissière, France
The Bunker 638 spans 220 square meters and contains nine rooms that served as a German field hospital during World War II.
Following the Allied landings in North Africa in 1942, Hitler ordered the construction of 900 bunkers along the Mediterranean coast, known as the Sudwall.
The museum displays exhibits about German regional organization, local life during occupation, and bunker construction methods through restored rooms with period equipment.
Visitors can access the bunker on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 12:00, with guided tours available in English and French lasting approximately 60 minutes.
This structure represents the only type 638 infirmary bunker open to the public along the entire Mediterranean coastline.
