Little World, Ethnographic museum in Inuyama, Japan.
Little World is an ethnographic museum in Inuyama, Japan, where original houses and living spaces from dozens of countries have been relocated and reassembled on site. The buildings stand along a long outdoor loop path, covering regions from Alaska and Nepal to West Africa and Europe.
The museum opened in 1983 with the goal of bringing authentic buildings from around the world to a single location in Japan. The structures and everyday objects were acquired directly in their countries of origin before being carefully dismantled and transported here.
Visitors can try on traditional clothing from different parts of the world at several stops along the outdoor path. Some areas also serve local foods from the cultures on display, so the experience goes beyond simply looking at buildings.
The outdoor loop is long, so wear comfortable shoes and plan for at least half a day to see most of the site. Small vehicles are available for visitors who find the full walk difficult, and they stop at several points along the route.
Each visitor receives a small museum passport and can collect stamps from the different countries as they walk from building to building. The passport looks and works much like a real travel document, with each country's stamp placed in its own dedicated page.
