George W. S. Abbey Rocket Park at Space Center Houston, Space exploration museum at Space Center Houston, US

The George W. S. Abbey Rocket Park displays original rockets and spacecraft in a climate-controlled hall, including a Saturn V rocket at its full impressive size. The park also features various capsules and modules from different eras of American space missions.

The park was established as a memorial to American spaceflight history, documenting the development from the early days of space exploration through the Space Shuttle era. It preserves artifacts that show how technology and mission types evolved over the decades.

Space Center Houston organizes regular presentations by former astronauts and engineers who share their experiences and knowledge with museum visitors.

Wear comfortable shoes since you will walk a lot to see all the exhibits spread throughout the space. The visit takes several hours, especially if you want to explore the large rockets and all displayed items thoroughly.

Many of the displayed vehicles still show burn marks and scratches from their flight through the atmosphere, making the extreme conditions of space visibly real. These damage marks tell the story of journeys that took people to space and brought them safely home.
