GreenWood, Family amusement park in Gwynedd, Wales

GreenWood is a family amusement park set in woodland in Gwynedd, North Wales, close to Snowdonia National Park. The park spreads across forested paths, open play areas, and outdoor rides, with a large barn structure at its center serving as an indoor space for all weathers.

The park opened in the 1990s as a response to growing interest in outdoor family days out in Wales. Over the years it added more attractions, always keeping an ecological focus that shaped its identity over time.

GreenWood puts environmental awareness at the center of its identity, and visitors feel this throughout the day. The human-powered roller coaster and the solar-powered water ride turn green values into hands-on experiences rather than just information boards.

The park works best as a full-day visit since the forest paths and spread of activities take time to explore at a comfortable pace. Both indoor and outdoor areas are available, so a visit is possible even on overcast or rainy days.

The water ride at GreenWood is the only one in the UK powered entirely by solar energy, making it dependent on sunshine to run. On very cloudy days, visitors might find the ride closed, which turns the weather itself into part of the experience.
