Elvis American Cafe, American restaurant in Neve Ilan, Israel
Elvis American Cafe is a restaurant in Neve Ilan, located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, serving a mix of Israeli and American dishes. The entire interior is decorated with around 700 objects dedicated to Elvis Presley, from photographs and posters to gilded statues.
The place opened in 1974 as Mountain Inn Truck Stop, primarily serving drivers traveling the main road between the two cities. It was later transformed into an Elvis-themed restaurant, which gave it a new identity along that route.
The walls and shelves are covered with records, film posters, and photographs of Elvis Presley that visitors can look at during their meal. The overall feeling is that of eating inside a private collection built over many decades.
The restaurant sits on the main road between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv and is easy to reach by car. Parking is available on site, and a stop here fits naturally into a drive between the two cities.
A large gilded Elvis statue stands in front of the building and is visible from the road passing by. It has long served as a spontaneous meeting point for travelers who happen to pass through.
