Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant Church, Catholic church in Abu Ghosh, Israel.

Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant Church is a Catholic place of worship in Abu Ghosh, perched at elevation with a statue of Mary and Jesus positioned on its roof. The building combines religious function with a prominent visual presence in the local landscape.

The modern church was built in 1924 on the traditional site of the house of Abinadab, where the Ark of the Covenant rested for twenty years before King David took it to Jerusalem. It stands over the remains of a fifth-century Byzantine church, whose mosaic fragments were set into the new floor. The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition built it under Sister Josephine Rumbe, who bought the hilltop in 1903 and 1905; the cornerstone was consecrated in 1920.

The church is the meeting place of Vietnamese pilgrims since a statue of Our Lady of La Vang was dedicated in the garden in 2018. The Abu Ghosh Music Festival holds concerts in the building, and a small winged figure of King David in armour, holding a flag and sword, stands left of the entrance because he brought the Ark from Kiriath-jearim to Jerusalem.

The church stands on the summit of Tel Kiryat Ye'arim, 756 m above sea level, at the northwestern edge of Abu Ghosh, and the hilltop is visible from the surrounding area. The modern building overlaps the remains of the Byzantine church, with its authentic mosaics set into the floor. The former retreat house on the grounds now serves as a hostel for pilgrims.

The statue on the roof shows Mary standing on the Ark of the Covenant, flanked by two winged cherubim facing south and north. Her head tilts slightly downward, as if to hear supplicants. The sculpture was completed and set in place in 1931, seven years after the church was consecrated.
