HARS Aviation Museum, Aviation museum in Albion Park Rail, Australia
HARS Aviation Museum holds more than 40 aircraft spanning military and civilian designs, arranged across several hangars at Shellharbour Airport. The collection ranges from classic propeller-driven planes to modern jet aircraft, with some in active restoration and others ready for viewing.
The Historical Aircraft Restoration Society was founded in 1979 by aviation professionals committed to preserving Australian aeronautical heritage. The group grew from a small band of enthusiasts into an institution now housing one of the country's largest private aircraft collections.
Volunteer pilots, engineers, and cabin crew members work together to restore aircraft and share their passion for aviation with visitors. This hands-on dedication is visible in the daily restoration work happening inside the hangars, where you can watch skilled craftspeople at work.
You can visit daily and guided tours are available regularly, with knowledgeable guides explaining the technical details of each aircraft. Since the hangars are indoors, you can view the collection comfortably regardless of weather conditions.
The collection includes rare aircraft such as a Lockheed Super Constellation and a Boeing 747-400, demonstrating how long-distance travel evolved over decades. A standout addition is an incoming Boeing 707 that was donated by a well-known actor.
