Park of Mediterranean Biodiversity

The Park of Mediterranean Biodiversity is an environmental museum and green space in Catanzaro featuring multiple ecological zones with native plants, walking trails, and small lakes. The site includes educational areas, children's playgrounds, sports facilities, and designated wildlife viewing points throughout the grounds.

The space opened in 2004 following a regional project to convert the grounds of a former agricultural school into a public facility. This transformation created an environmental education center designed to serve the local community.

Contemporary artworks by renowned international artists are scattered throughout the grounds, integrated into the natural landscape rather than isolated in formal settings. These installations encourage visitors to experience art and nature together as they walk through different zones.

The grounds are free to access throughout the year and easy to navigate thanks to marked trails and distinct themed sections. Comfortable walking shoes and water are recommended due to the sunny southern Italian climate.

A section of the park features a tunnel covered with flowering wisteria vines, creating a romantic passage that contrasts with the scientific focus of the site. Adjacent viewing platforms carry literary references, adding an unexpected poetic dimension to the experience.
