Parco della Biodiversita' Mediterranea

Parco della Biodiversità Mediterranea is a large botanical garden and public park in Catanzaro with different zones for plants and wildlife. The grounds include wooded areas, water basins for aquatic species, meadows, and structured garden sections connected by walking paths.

The park was created from the transformation of a former school site, developed between 2001 and 2004. This change marked the conversion of an educational facility into a public space combining nature and culture.

Contemporary art installations from international artists are placed throughout the grounds, creating unexpected encounters between nature and modern creativity as you walk through the space. This blend of outdoor art and landscape invites visitors to pause and think while moving between different sections.

The park is open daily with free admission year-round, making it accessible to all visitors without cost. Flat pathways cross the grounds, making it suitable for different abilities, while shaded areas provide relief during warmer months.

The grounds house a Wildlife Rescue Center where injured animals are cared for daily, adding a practical conservation function to the park. This operates alongside a Military History Museum, creating an unusual mix of nature and historical narrative.
