Nilhan Sultan Mansion
Nilhan Sultan Mansion is a restaurant housed in a historic building in Çengelköy overlooking the Bosporus. The structure features old wooden details and high ceilings, while the kitchen serves fresh fish, kebabs, and salads prepared according to local recipes.
The building dates to the Ottoman period and was once part of royal residences tied to the final centuries of the Ottoman Empire. Today it is run by Nilhan Osmanoğlu, a descendant of Sultan Abdulhamid II, who opened it as a restaurant.
The mansion keeps Ottoman traditions alive through drinks like Turkish sherbet and specially prepared coffee that are part of Turkish custom. Visitors experience this culture by taking time with others and enjoying each sip slowly, making conversation and connection central to the visit.
The location is easy to find and stays open from morning until late evening, allowing visitors to stop by for breakfast, lunch, or an evening drink. The Bosporus setting provides good water views, and a small garden with seating areas invites relaxation.
The kitchen here serves dishes based on recipes from old sultan courts, along with traditional saray drinks once prepared for the sultans themselves. This rare blend of palace history and dining makes every visit a journey into the past.
