Forst, Historic brewery in Algund, Italy
Forst is a brewery and restaurant in Algund, Italy, spread across several buildings where different types of beer are made on site. The facility uses spring water from nearby mountains and includes a sales area for drinks as well as a garden restaurant.
The family opened the operation in 1857 and expanded it over generations. Over time they enlarged the production sites while keeping control within the family.
The name comes from the Middle High German word for forest, referring to the wooded slopes around the site. Guests gather in the beer garden under old chestnut trees and sample local dishes alongside the different brews.
Guided tours through the production areas are offered and provide insight into the manufacturing process. After the tour visitors can order food at the adjacent venue and taste different beers.
The company brews a special beer at Christmas with an adapted recipe and has received several awards in recent years for alcohol-free versions. These versions are made using methods similar to the classic varieties.
