Numismatic Museum of Athens

The Numismatic Museum houses an extensive collection of coins, medals, and objects related to the history of money from different periods and cultures. The building itself is a fine example of neoclassical architecture with valuable details preserved from its original design.

The building was constructed between 1878 and 1880 for archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann, who led famous excavations at Troy. The location thus connects the history of a major archaeological figure with the museum's present purpose.
