The National Museum of the Romanian Peasant

The museum houses roughly 100,000 traditional objects documenting rural life, including costumes, pottery, furniture, and religious items. The displays show how people once furnished their homes and clothed themselves in village communities.

The building was completed in 1941 in the Neo-Romanian architectural style, featuring red brick walls, arched windows, and towers. Over time it became a place to gather and preserve knowledge about traditional crafting skills and rural ways.

The collections show how rural families shaped their homes with handcrafted objects and patterns that tell stories of family and craft traditions. These everyday items reveal what skills and values were passed down through generations.

The museum is centrally located in the first district and easy to reach, with good lighting and quiet rooms that invite exploration. Plan to spend several hours to view the displays thoroughly, and visit on weekdays when crowds are lighter.

An 18th-century wooden church stands in the courtyard, carefully moved and reconstructed at its present location in 1992. This relocated building is a rare example of how villagers preserved and passed down their most sacred structures.
