Taiwan Glass Gallery, Glass museum in Dongshi Village, Taiwan
Taiwan Glass Gallery is a museum in Dongshi Village devoted to glass art and craftsmanship across multiple exhibition areas. The outdoor plaza displays large sculptures while interior rooms present religious and decorative pieces alongside workshops where artisans demonstrate their skills.
The gallery emerged from the local glass industry that developed in this coastal area over several decades. The temple made entirely of glass was later added, merging religious architecture with industrial material in a new form.
The temple honors Mazu, a sea goddess whose presence connects the site to coastal religious traditions throughout Taiwan. Worshippers place offerings before the glass deity while visitors watch artisans shape molten material into small objects using torches and hand tools.
The museum requires visitors to buy protective footwear covers for 80 TWD before stepping inside the glass temple to prevent scratches on the floors. The site opens daily from 8 AM to 7 PM, with workshops usually more active in the morning hours.
The information gallery contains panels and models explaining the industrial manufacturing process from raw material melting to shaping. Outdoor installations reflect sunlight and change their appearance depending on the time of day and weather conditions.
