Mamnoon
Mamnoon was a restaurant in Seattle serving Lebanese, Syrian, and Persian food for over 13 years with a simple interior design and soft lighting. The space featured traditional breads and pastries made fresh daily, along with signature dishes like muhammara and braised lamb prepared using family recipes passed through generations.
Mamnoon was founded by Wassef and Racha Haroun to share the cultures of their homelands Syria, Lebanon, and Iran with Seattle. The family rebuilt their lives after war and persecution, making the restaurant a symbol of resilience and cultural pride in the community.
The name Mamnoon means thankful in Arabic, Farsi, and Urdu, expressing the family's gratitude for community support. The restaurant served as a space where people shared their stories and traditions from Syria, Lebanon, and Iran, keeping their culture alive through food and displayed artwork from regional artists.
The restaurant was located in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, a lively area with many shops and places to visit nearby. It was advisable to arrive early or make a reservation, especially on weekends, since this popular spot often had full tables.
The restaurant received a visit from Anthony Bourdain in 2017 and was named Seattle Met's Best New Restaurant in 2013. These recognitions reflected its importance to the local community and the city's food scene.
