Anton's
Anton's is a steakhouse in downtown Kansas City specializing in dry-aged beef and meat cuts prepared with minimal seasonings. The 1898 building houses the restaurant, a butcher shop, an upstairs tilapia farm, and herb gardens that supply ingredients for the kitchen.
The building was constructed in 1898 and served as a factory and food market before becoming a restaurant in 2012. The area was initially quiet after the restaurant opened, but the return of street cars and urban development transformed downtown into a more active neighborhood.
The name comes from the founder who brings his knowledge of meat quality and working with local farmers to daily operations. The space serves as a gathering spot where people come together to enjoy good food and share time with one another.
The restaurant spans multiple levels with different dining areas, including an outdoor beer garden and upstairs gallery space. Parking in the area is limited, so arriving early or considering alternative transportation is advisable.
The restaurant maintains a working tilapia farm on the upper floor where fish grow from tiny hatchlings to be served as dishes. Herb gardens using water and soil cultivation supply fresh ingredients directly to the kitchen.
