Artotel
Artotel is a design hotel in the Menteng neighborhood of Jakarta, built around contemporary Indonesian art displayed throughout its spaces. It has a restaurant, a rooftop bar with views over the city, and a dedicated area used for rotating art exhibitions.
The hotel opened in 2013 as part of a new wave of properties bringing design-focused hospitality to Jakarta. It was among the first in the city to make rotating art exhibitions a permanent part of hotel life.
The hotel works with local Indonesian artists whose pieces hang in the rooms, corridors, and shared spaces throughout the building. Walking through it feels more like visiting a gallery than staying in a standard hotel room.
The hotel sits in central Menteng, a walkable area with restaurants and shops close by. Gambir Train Station is a short walk away, making it easy to reach other parts of Jakarta without relying on a taxi.
Each room was designed by a different local artist, so no two rooms look alike in the building. Guests who return and stay in a different room each time effectively see a new hotel on every visit.
