Venice, California-inspired restaurant in Old Montreal, Canada
Venice is a California-inspired restaurant in Old Montreal featuring white walls, lush plants, and a blue floor that evokes beach culture. The dining space includes surfboards and wooden furnishings arranged to create a relaxed seaside setting.
It opened in early 2016, occupying the space that previously housed Casa de Mateo in the Old Montreal location. A second branch launched in the St-Henri neighborhood during summer 2018, expanding the restaurant's footprint across the city.
The space reflects California beach culture through its design choices, plant-filled corners, and food approach. Local diners experience a slice of west coast lifestyle simply by walking through the doors and ordering from the menu.
The dining space seats around 60 guests and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with multiple dietary options available. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and lactose-free dishes are offered alongside fresh smoothies and juices for different preferences.
The menu was created by Chef Yannick Dagenais and features poke bowls, gourmet salads, and kale sourced from local farms. The patio dining area combines outdoor seating with the laid-back California eating philosophy central to the venue's approach.
