KadoCafe
KadoCafe is a café on the second floor of the Kadokawa Culture Museum with views of an outdoor water basin. The space features high ceilings, light-colored walls with purple and yellow touches inspired by local sweet potatoes, colored cushions, and artfully designed tables.
The Kadokawa Culture Museum opened in 2020 in the Sakura Town area of Tokorozawa. The building was designed by Kengo Kuma and resembles a floating rock with granite stones and a water basin at its base, reflecting nature-inspired architecture.
KadoCafe reflects a modern Japanese design approach that blends simplicity with comfort. The space was intentionally created as a gathering place for visitors, particularly women, using local ingredients and regional themes in its decor and menu.
The café operates from 10 am to 6 pm daily with last orders at 5:30 pm, and closes on Tuesdays. All food and drinks are ordered from a self-service counter and picked up when ready.
The café offers a special item called the oimoball, a small snack inspired by local ingredients found only here. This regional specialty connects visitors to the local food culture and gives the café its own identity within the museum.
