Musée de Marrakech d'architecture

The Musée de Marrakech d'architecture occupies the Dar Menebhi Palace, a residential residence featuring elaborate Moroccan interior design. The rooms are equipped with fine zellij tiles, carved cedar wood, and detailed geometric decorations typical of the region's architectural style.

The palace was built in the late 19th century by Mehdi al-Mnebhi, who served as minister of war under Sultan Moulay Abdelaziz. After extensive renovations, the building opened to the public as a museum in 1997.

The palace demonstrates Morocco's craft traditions through its spaces, with elaborate carved wooden ceilings, ornate tiled walls, and geometric patterns filling every corner. You can observe how these decorative techniques were rooted in the daily life and values of the region.

The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon when fewer visitors are around. The building sits within the Medina and is walkable from the market area, making it easy to explore the neighborhood along with your visit.

A large brass chandelier with geometric patterns hangs in the central courtyard and immediately draws attention. The surrounding galleries display decorative wall fountains whose surface coating with colored zellij tiles has been carefully preserved.
