House of Photography in Marrakech

The House of Photography occupies a restored traditional merchant inn building in the historic center of Marrakesh, displaying photographic works spanning from 1870 to 1960.

The museum collection started with several thousand photographs in 2009 and expanded to 10,000 documents, including works from photographers George Washington Wilson and Marcelin Flandrin.

The exhibitions present photographs of Moroccan life, Berber tribes, archaeological sites, and traditional customs through rare prints, glass plates, and silver photographs.

The museum functions as an educational center for students and researchers, providing historical documentation about Morocco through rotating exhibitions that change every six months.

Visitors can purchase prints produced in the museum workshop, featuring reproductions of historical photographs that document Morocco from the nineteenth century.
