Museum of Moroccan Elegance / Musée de l’Élégance Marocaine

The Museum of Moroccan Elegance sits in the heart of Marrakech inside a traditional riad dating to the 1600s and displays roughly 200 handmade miniature models of traditional Moroccan dress. The exhibits spread across multiple rooms, showcasing costumes from different regions along with wedding attire from Amazigh, Jewish, and Sahrawi peoples.

Opened in June 2024, the museum features garments that chronicle Morocco's history across many centuries. The collection was meticulously assembled by Habiba Hantout, a scholar and artist who researched extensively to show how traditional dress evolved and which cultural influences shaped it.

The museum reveals how Moroccans express identity through dress and adornment across different regions and communities. The pieces on display tell stories of weddings, celebrations, and the daily lives of people from various parts of the country.

The museum is conveniently located in the heart of Marrakech and provides a calm space to explore at your own pace any day of the week. A small terrace café with views of the Medina rooftops offers a place to rest, and an on-site shop features items inspired by Moroccan craft.

The collection stems from the passion of one artist who personally handcrafted each tiny garment with meticulous attention to detail. These miniature models are precise reproductions of actual historical costumes, revealing the remarkable patience and skill involved in preserving Morocco's textile traditions.
