Riad Dar Kawa, Traditional Moroccan riad in Marrakech medina, Morocco.
Dar Kawa is a 17th-century riad in the Marrakech medina with four bedrooms, each with private bathrooms. The central courtyard is planted with orange trees and surrounded by rooftop terraces overlooking the historic city.
The building dates to the early 17th century and was carefully restored in 1999 by designer Valérie Barkowski. The renovation preserved original materials and maintained traditional Moroccan craftsmanship techniques throughout.
The riad displays traditional Moroccan craftsmanship through hand-painted cement tiles, cedar wood details, and Berber textiles that visitors can see throughout the rooms and courtyards. These materials reflect how local artisans have shaped everyday beauty across the region for generations.
The riad accommodates up to twelve guests and is within walking distance of Marrakech's main attractions. It offers private chef services and spa treatments using natural ingredients.
The Mumtaz Suite features a glass pyramid that floods the room with natural light from above. This design offers views directly down into the orange tree-filled courtyard below.
