Mazotos Camel Park, Zoo and animal park in Mazotos, Cyprus.
Mazotos Camel Park is an animal park in the rural village of Mazotos, Cyprus, combining camels as its main focus with a wide range of other species. The grounds also house ostriches, goats, deer, ponies, wallabies, llamas, alpacas, lemurs, and several bird species in open-air enclosures.
The park opened in 1998 as a family-run camel farm in the Cypriot countryside. Over the years, the same family gradually added more animal species and facilities, turning it into the mixed animal park it is today.
A small museum area on the grounds displays traditional Cypriot household objects and tools from past generations. Walking through it gives visitors a concrete sense of how everyday life looked in this rural part of the island not so long ago.
The park sits between Larnaca and Limassol, close to the motorway, making it easy to reach by car from either city. On site there are camel rides, swimming pools, a restaurant, and play areas, so it is worth planning for at least half a day.
Visitors can feed the camels using carob pods, a crop that has been grown on the island for centuries and was once one of Cyprus's main exports. This connection between the local landscape and the animals gives the feeding experience a layer that goes beyond a typical zoo visit.
